Donations Welcome!

Tis the season of goodwill, or so it would appear. In the space of a week, several local residents have chosen to proffer their lovingly reared vegetables and fruit to the ever appreciative kitchen at Manson. Handpicked, caked in soil, misshapen; and all from gardens in SW6. Fantastic!

Talking of which, our own locally grown ingredients are featuring heavily in June’s menu. Tempura courgette flowers are a perfect mix with the Cornish brown crabs, the last of the English Asparagus in soup and salad form, a perfect marriage with the humble egg; Fennel makes an appearance with lemon and olive oil as a delicious salad for the Black Bream and our chef is putting to good use broad bean shoots, normally confined to the compost heap, these sweet leaves, blanched in lemon and salted butter are divine.

Other ingredients to show themselves this month will be;  Peas, radishes,  an assortment of salad leaves, beetroot, cucumbers, courgette, green beans and runner beans, the first of our new potatoes and a variety of our  different sized, coloured and striped tomatoes. The majority of the British berries come to the fore in June, (most a little early, due to the unusually hot weather).  Loganberries, raspberries, tayberries, blueberries and of course the nations favourite, the strawberry will more than likely make it onto our dessert or cocktail list at some stage in June.Other exciting news; the arrival of our website (at last!) www.mansonrestaurant.co.uk to which we have gone the whole hog and now have Facebook page, Manson Restaurant twitter account, @MansonLondon and a blog spot. Manson has arrived, a little late perhaps to the 21st century!
